ATC workout at the active oval:
1 x 2 mile (800 jog), 1 x 800m (done)
very short workout today, and a good thing at that. i once again failed to hit even the slowest end of my target (12:15). in theory, this pace should feel fairly breezy at this point. i ended up running 12:40 and i was hurting in all areas -- legs, lungs, eyes. i don't have an explanation -- everything just feels off.
the 800 was slightly more respectable -- 2:40 -- but it was supposed to be an all out effort, and there was a time in a july when i was doing five 2:40s in a row. where did all of those summer workouts go?
i'm not feeling very confident at this point, but i'm still excited to race. i'm going to try to stay positive and forget these last few workout failures. maybe my body will wake up once it gets into a race setting. i think at least part of my recent struggles can be attributed to the early hour and lack of sleep. monday's race isn't until noon so i'll have time for several meals and naps before the race even starts.
