race dream last night. haven't had one of those for awhile:

i was running the SLC marathon, and somehow got stuck carrying my clothes bag and an extra large water bottle the entire way. i kept looking at my watch to see where i was at in the race, but the numbers would never make sense (877:46, 6:70, etc). at 2 miles to go i got lost, so i ran to my old apartment in SLC and looked up the course map online. i was thinking about how embarrassed i was going to be when i had to explain in my race report that i lost 5 minutes of time to stop and look at a map. i finally found my way toward the finish but never made it there before waking up.

4:45 AM - tuesdays will start early since i have yet another 7:30 class this semester. i must say though, i am very happy to be starting school again. my break was too long. i am looking forward to having a more structured and productive schedule. 

9 miles. overall 8 min pace for the run. sped up to 7 min pace for the last 20 minutes, including the last mile at 6:40. felt better/more energized today than i have felt for about two weeks.  possibly diet related. still experimenting.

12 miles. averaged 7:35/mile for the first 10, then slowed way down and dawdled through the last 2 to cool down. 8:03 average for the entire run. 

the last time i ran 12 miles was the day my shin fell into the depths of injury. no pain to speak of after this run. good.

i got a late start this morning due to my very late night last night trying to get home from slc. this consisted of riding three different trains, a bus, and then navigating my way through an ultra foggy sardine canyon. i was sure i was going to fall off a cliff or hit a deer. that canyon is always scary in the dark, but the fog element made it extra spooky.

goal for this week was 55 miles. i ended up doing 55.5 just to humor sam. right now my only goals are consistency, base mileage, and rebuilding fitness. i am not doing any speed or long runs. but i do wonder if my lack of long runs is in error. it seems most bloggers do a weekly long run year-round. thoughts? advice? i am 15 weeks out from my next marathon and i don't want to be dealing with injuries...
