snow run!

atlanta is shut down yet again. we got about 2 inches of snow, but it dropped to 13 degrees overnight and will not get much above 20 today, so the roads are actually legitimately bad.

there are currently several cars piled up at the bottom of a hill near our house. one of them went straight through someone's hedges and into their front yard. there were cars crashed against curbs and up on the sidewalk on the route where i run, so i was a bit worried i was going to get smooshed myself. but i didn't.

now i'm going to make soup and apply for 100 jobs

"I have people skills! I am good at dealing with people! Can't you understand that?!"

Good luck! Is this jerb search in Atlanta? Or are you moving on?

From allie on Wed, Jan 17, 2018 at 12:15:01 from

people skills is literally one of my lowest skills, but i think that's the joke.

the top skill listed on my resume is that i can peel an orange in one piece, **every single time**

the second skill is that i have never finished a whole cough drop, not in my entire life, ever. it always reaches that point where it gets just a bit too intensely menthol-y so it's no longer an adult candy experience.

i'm actually just now realizing that maybe that's not a skill, but i need to fill up space so it's fine. it will be read and garbaged by a robot.

jerb search focused in the pacific northwest...we are moving on, woot wooty

Pacific northwest! Neato!

I got my present-day job by showing my interviewer how good I am at picking up stuff with my toes! The bowling ball closed the deal.

He was not as impressed with my limbobility. I can limbo under a rug. I would have thought that was a desirable trait, but that just shows to go you, come to the interview prepared.

Another tip (and I had to learn this the hard way!) Don't start off by saying "Do you want to see what I bring to the party?" That sets an unrealistically high expectation.

Also, the correct answer to "Where do you see yourself in five years?" is NOT "Your Boss."

It's a shame I couldn't have met up with you guys, you know, in real life (or, "meat space"), while you were relatively close. When are you looking to go?

From Burt on Wed, Jan 17, 2018 at 13:17:20 from

So you're saying there's a chance we could run Ragnar NWP together some day.

From allie on Wed, Jan 17, 2018 at 13:34:31 from

i just went to a job workshop and the correct answer is actually "your mom's boss"

we're leaving at the end of march, but in the meantime we'll be at the swamp rabbit half in SC and the publix half in ATL (just in case you happen to have those on your schedule). or maybe i'll come back and run the jax half or disney challenge someday. or maybe you will run the escalante marathon!

burt - no

Hooray for getting out of the HOT HUMID summers. sticky!

Wish we had some of your snow!

From Jon on Thu, Jan 18, 2018 at 21:05:02 from

You're moving!?!

You're running swamp rabbit half?!? That's in my town!

From allie on Thu, Jan 18, 2018 at 21:31:47 from

jon - yes and yes. actually yes and probably (90%)...we haven't signed up yet and my fitness is woeful, but we've been meaning to check out SC and heard greenville is the best stop :)

From Jon on Fri, Jan 19, 2018 at 15:00:40 from

Greenville is awesome. Charleston, too, if you haven't been there. DON'T leave the south without visiting Charleston.

When you come to Gvl, walk Main St downtown to Falls Park, eat somewhere good, and relax. It's a nice downtown.
