at school from 6:30 to 6:30. fun day.

what i learned: apparently some unknown speedster ran the bear lake marathon this year in under two hours. this was according to one of my classmates who was telling me that his wife ran the half marathon and the man who won the marathon beat her by 20 minutes. "yeah, he was just flying, he ran under two hours, i was so impressed."

i was laughing. no point in correcting him though; it wouldn't mean anything to him anyway. just found it funny.

still taking it easy on the mileage. big day saturday and i want to be ready. i won't be running again until tomorrow evening when i get home from work. commute starts at 4 am tomorrow, so unless i want to get up at 2 to run...

Funny stuff you hear at school.

I will be thinking of you doing that L-O-N-G commute. Too bad they don't have a TM or fitness center on the Frontrunner or trax. You could easily do some speed intervals. I guess reading/studying is good too or catch a nap. Be careful with the bike ride.

GOOD LUCK on Sat.

Umm, Allie, I gotta come clean. That was me at the Bear Lake marathon. And the story was totally true. :)

smooth - a TM on the train would be so ideal. maybe in a few years it will be in the state's budget...or maybe i will just wheel one on and run in the aisle :)

jon - i figured it was you. you really need to stop being lazy with those 4:35 MP miles.

Hey you busy girl!!! Good luck w/ all your running/commuting/schooling and such this week! If only we could run all day and have no other obligations, I think it sounds like heaven . . . run . . .eat . . . sleep.. . . run again! Some people would definitely call it a waste of time . . . . I would just call it a very selfish lifestyle :) and totally fun!

Allie,

That is so funny. I have a brother-in-law who insists that he used to run a 4 minute mile on a regular basis!! I just smile and say, "Wow, that is fantastic!"

People are funny!!!

Twice i have half commented and had to get back to work LOL shouldnt be on the internet on this in work but hey HO!

Well I read in a mag y'day that some women cant remember her name a celeb was away on an island but in training for a a hell 5 day run through egypt, so she got the hotel staff to put the treadmill on the beach in the sun, as the island was too small to run around LOL

Sorry but thats just bizzar, either just go dizzy running around the small island or book a bigger island for your hols so you can train ......

Anyways, just go get ya treadmill and take in on the train its the in thing ya know :-)

Hahaha. Love it. People who don't have a clue about running make me laugh. I had a lady come up to me in church the other day "Wow, I heard you won a half-marathon!! Congrats! What was your time?" I told her 1:19 and she's like, "Awesome! So thats like 80 minutes, divided by 10 is...Wow, you're fast!" I just smiled and thanked her for her enthusiasm. :) My own Mother can't remember race distances either. Ever since I started running distance in high school it never failed, at every meet she ever went to she was like, "so 800 meters is two laps? Or four? And how many laps is 1600 meters?" And now when I tell her about the longer races she is still struggling..."so the Marathon is 25 miles? And a half marathon is 12?" I have to correct her every time. Some people just aren't good with numbers, I guess. She is an English whiz though! Always correcting me on my grammar. :)

my mom does the same thing to me. "so what time should i start looking for you at the finish line? like 2:15ish?" haha. or worse, when people say "wow, a marathon huh? what is that, like 18 miles? holy cow that is a long way." and then the kicker: "how do you manage to jog for that long?"

i love the 4-minute miler and treadmill on the island stories as well. funny, funny world.

I was just looking at those results yesterday. Chuck Engle won in 2:53:04. He was the only one to get under 3.

From allie on Thu, Aug 27, 2009 at 13:32:13 from 129.123.33.59

correction, burt. it was 1:53:04. not too bad for a small local race, but hardly worth mentioning. looking at the list of participants for next year, the times should be a bit more respectable. usain bolt is in, and i talked to rosie ruiz the other day and she is planning on running as well. chuck doesn't stand a chance.

LOL - wow - a sub 2 hour marathon in little old Utah/Idaho. Who would have thought of it?

I always love it when I tell people I am running or ran a marathon and they ask, how many miles was this one? Uh - 26.2 - same as every other one....

From Burt on Thu, Aug 27, 2009 at 15:26:22 from 68.76.197.194

LOL.
