am - 5 with james along the columbia river in The Dalles, OR

pm - 5 with james around mercer island

we made it to seattle around 3pm -- roughly 3000 miles of driving complete. it's a relief to have made it, as i was certain there would be at least one car explosion or smoore health & safety challenge. but everything survived, and it appears all the boxes we shipped made it safely as well.

i'm excited for something new here, although my true emotion at the moment is a bit panicky since we don't yet have a place to live and i haven't found a job. hopefully at least the housing situation will be figured out this weekend. i have zillow/craigslist scrolling blisters.

it's been a fun week traveling across the country with james, seeing new sites/states, and visiting with family and friends. it's a weird zone to be in when your whole life is boxed up and life is just kind of dormant until the next phase gets going. james is excited about his new job, and hopefully i will find something interesting as well. in the meantime i'm just so happy to be back in the west and closer to the most important people in my life.

This is all around great news, and apparently the third comment I have made in the last ~3 minutes.

Megan asks me what I did all day. My response "zillowing my face off." It always so intriguing and yet so anxiety producing.

Did you take time to do a training run in each state as you traveled into the great northwest?

jason - i've spent an embarrassing amount of time on zillow over the past 1-2 months. there were even some middle-of-the-night zillow sessions when i would wake up in a panic about finding a place to live. i saw a comment you made a few days back about how you are most interested in the kitchen -- that's me as well. kitchen first, bathroom second, then i start to care about the arguably more important things like square footage and price.

slick - some of those states we didn't even stop or get out of the car. but we did run in TN, WY, UT, OR...the only new state for both of us being TN. best runs were in UT. :)

Glad you made it safely there. Good luck in the house hunting and job search. Congrats on the new adventure!
