"wildly scenic vistas across a landscape of unmatched ruggedness, a course with dramatic topography, pristine air, and a profound sense of serenity."

i took that description from the race website because i can't sum it up any better. the course followed scenic byway 12 from boulder to escalante. first 11 were gradually downhill with a few climbs, then 12 through 17 were up, up, up before gradually descending back down into escalante.

jake and i ran as a team (team jeep explosion)! jake won the race in 2:42, which is ridiculous for this crazy course.

most fun and least stressful marathon i've ever done. hardest course hands down, but amazingly scenic and worth every step.

andrea, amiee, and devra tag teamed running with me. andrea helped me up the long climb, amiee kept me going through yet another climb, and devra got me back into a good rhythm when the course flattened out again. then jake threw mallowcremes in my face at the finish. i love these great friends.

after the race, we got giant soft serve cones at nemo's. then we spent the afternoon hiking into the zebra slot canyon for recovery. i will never top this marathon day.

for future reference, my pre-race fuel was coleman stove grilled cheese, two beers, and a grape slushie starburst.

I'm not sure if I'm more impressed with you winning the race or your ability to survive on the pre-race fuel you opted for. Is that what you had in the morning or the night before? Congrats!! Sound like a lot of fun.

Nice win! That course looks crazy on Strava! The epic dance of sounds like a perfect shakeout. Just not for me. I don't dance.

This is really great. Congrats to you and Jake on the respective wins - and to the whole team for what looks like a very high enjoyment factor.
