10 miles. brickyard loop. i saw an unusually large number of people out and about this morning. the weird part was that most of them were just casually walking down the streets like it was the middle of the day (i.e. a guy walking down the sidewalk eating chips and a woman all dressed up carrying a briefcase). it was very strange and it made me feel uneasy, as it's rare for me to see anyone except for the occasional cyclist or dog walker.

Cyclists in the dark? That sounds a little scary to me. Not for you but for the cyclist. I run at 5am and I always see a guy rollerblading wearing a red sweatshirt and an LED headlamp. But he carries a stick not a briefcase, and I've never seen him eating chips.

Nice miles already this week.

Sounds like you saw a bunch of Zombies heading to a convention? It could happen.

Nice ramp up this week! Wish I could be in Utah to cheer you all on during TOU. It should be a great race.

I was at Sugar House early this morning and thought the exact same thing...what is going on this morning???

Sometimes you just feel like grabbing a bag of chips and going for a walk at 4am!

Don't close your eyes, for you have just entered - The Twilight Zone.

eating a bag of chips. ha ha that is hilarious. I'd prefer people watching over dog ditching any day though.

That's because they were all zombies! That makes for an interesting run:)

So my plan is working out well is it?

From allie on Tue, Aug 30, 2011 at 20:10:51 from 24.10.191.18

mark - i am glad i am not the only one who noticed this anomaly...

i'm really not sure why this morning was different than others, but apparently tuesday the 30th is the day to hang out on the streets of salt lake city -- there was even a woman swinging at westminster park on 1700 south. in the dark! not kidding. i was so spooked.

From nevels on Tue, Aug 30, 2011 at 20:17:04 from 64.134.181.50

i'm with you, it really weirds me out when i see other folks out while i'm running in the am (~0500).

for that matter, given the rather extreme nature of the addiction that gets me up and out at that time of morning, it makes me wonder what little secrets they're all hiding...

This entry makes me laugh. It is strange when you see people out too early.

From Mauri on Wed, Aug 31, 2011 at 21:44:52 from 174.27.92.140

I notice the same thing when I run around our greenbelt and river. There are always the same usual people, but it makes me leary when there are new strange people.
