i had planned to run the freedom 5k this morning in slc, but after warming up along the course i decided it was too downhill for my liking -- the race started in the avenues and went downhill to the state capitol. it's a fast course that i would love to run someday, but not until i am healthy. i was just too nervous about my leg and i am certainly not going to take any chances at this point. so i decided to scratch the race and just jog the course down to the finish line. i was actually more interested in seeing the finish of the half marathon anyway, and i am very glad that i didn't miss it. james had a spectacular finish (i will leave it up to him to give the result...)

we saw catherine and eric at the finish with their very cute new baby, as well as andy and his family. overall it was a very fun and festive morning.

after the race james and i ran one loop of liberty park on the wood chips. this gave me a total of 6 miles for the day without trouble, which i am very happy about.

Good choice! Running down hills always trashes my legs!

I think you will have the record for fastest stress fracture comeback ever.

I think you were very wise to not run the race. You would have wanted to win, which I'm sure you could, but it would not have been good for your leg.
