17 miles. water wheel loop. the magic drinking fountain has been turned on and the water was as cold and refreshing as ever. i've missed this loop -- it used to be my standard midweek 11-miler, but i haven't done it for about a year because the route turned into a long run when i moved.

here's the route (the drinking fountain and water wheel are at about 9.3):

17 miles. Wow. Great way to start the week!

Cool route. And it looks like you only have to run on the interstate for a couple miles, which is nice. Is it hard to merge into traffic when you're going 8 mph?

From Fritz on Sun, May 13, 2012 at 13:05:24 from

Great run. Up 39th? I guess you do what you gotta do to get to the water wheel fountain.

From Dan on Sun, May 13, 2012 at 17:22:16 from

Nice 17- good route... Joe pointed out the interstate running. If the merge is not a problem, you can always cut across 8- of you are tired.

nice run! water at 9.3 of a 17 mile run is just right.

From allie on Sun, May 13, 2012 at 21:30:00 from

unfortunately, no interstate running. the first cross over is an underpass and the second one is an overpass. there is a paved bike path that runs right along the freeway for a bit and offers great views of SLC. it's a very nice run (other than the long climb up 39th south, but the reward is the drinking fountain).

JD - that is why it's magic. when this loop was 11 miles, the drinking fountain was always there waiting at 5.7. it just knows when you are thirsty...

sounds fun, nice job

good call going up 3900 instead of 4500. in addition to the water fountain, you also get to see the brand new mcdonalds being built next to REI!

Nice LR Allie!

very nice 17 miler! Glad you have your magic fountain on your route, a tough uphill stretch there too. I love the ever flowing fountain at the Alpine Park that I dubbed "fountain of youth".

From Nancy on Mon, May 14, 2012 at 16:45:47 from

Sounds like a nice easy route for a great runner like you. I'm glad there is a fountain with cold water. I always carry water with me when I run.

Does the magic drinking fountain give magic water? I like magic water! Nice way to start the week!
