confusing results, as jen h. and i crossed the line right at the same time. her chip time was one second faster, but my gun time was 18:51.1 and hers was 18:51.2. somewhere in here there is a joke about my nose...

this course is fast, so i was targeting 18:30-ish. it wasn't there today, but i do feel like i'm back on track after my march/april derailment(s).

So who did they actually declare the winner? The first person to cross the line, or the fastest chip time? Because if they based it off chip time, this race is bogus. Everyone knows not to do that!

From Bam on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 15:18:08 from

Well run allie. Good to see you going well after your derailment(s) - choo-choo:)

From allie on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 15:26:06 from

they did it right -- it was based off gun time.

i was hoping for a tarmoh/felix situation for more drama.

From Matt Poulsen on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 15:38:25 from

Nice work, Allie! It was great to finally meet you.

From Carina on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 15:45:19 from

Wow, way to fight to the finish!! Sounds like a fun race ;)

From Lily on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 16:21:13 from

I was trying to hang with you the first half mile. When I looked at the 5:45 pace on my watch I immediately put the breaks on. No freaking way I could pull that off and not oxygen deprive. You are always gonna be my hero!!!

From Bonnie on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 16:22:02 from

YEA! this is definitely in the right direction, allie!!

From Tara on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 16:44:48 from

Okay, I was confused too. The leader board even looks confused:) Yep, gun time=winner. So were you tow sprinting together to the finish? Your nose is a winner!

From Bonnie on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 16:56:24 from

allie -- check and see if there are any cheap flights from SLC to Tucson next weekend -- there is a fast 5K down here (3000 ft drop in elevation for you). Seriously!! you can stay with us, and we will feed you (especially since you eat like a bird), so all you have to do is get here!

From Jake K on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 17:43:20 from

Oh good, I'm glad they followed the rules!

This is a solid run for you - good step.

Bonnie - 3000 feet down is hardly a downhill race :-)

From Bonnie on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 18:03:00 from

Hahaha ... The elevation is ~2000-2400 ft here in Tucson!!

From RileyCook on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 20:14:39 from

Congrats on the victory. Wow that sounds crazy close! I wish I could've seen the finish.

From josse on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 20:45:49 from

You finished strong girl, great job!

From runningafterbabies on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 21:03:41 from

That was a nailbiter ... I loved running into team s'moore. You are definitely back on track!

From Neasts on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 21:27:04 from

If you're not a high school, college, or professional athlete, it seems like not many races ever come down to a split-second finish like that, and I agree with Riley, it would've been screamy fun to watch. Congratulations on the win!

From JD on Sat, May 04, 2013 at 22:56:57 from

you run, and win, a lot of 5k's. nice racing today.

From Burt on Sun, May 05, 2013 at 01:32:51 from

From seeaprilrun on Sun, May 05, 2013 at 09:29:45 from

Awesome finish! Love seeing people duke it out to the finish line. Glad you are feeling less funky.

From SlowJoe on Sun, May 05, 2013 at 19:13:07 from

Wow, 18-minute race and you win by 0.1 seconds. That would have been fun to watch, congrats on the win.

From Bec on Sun, May 05, 2013 at 20:00:41 from

It was really THAT close? So crazy Allie! Super awesome running and I was happy I got to see you twice in one day!

From Rachelle on Mon, May 06, 2013 at 10:41:17 from

Congratulations Allie. You are at a really great place right now. Keep it rolling and get revenge on that Des News Monster course!

From Steve on Mon, May 06, 2013 at 11:16:51 from
