my last 20-miler. it was scheduled for friday, but i suddenly have way too much going on that day. plus it is my commute day which always brings added stress. so, today was the day. 

i ran 1 mile from my house to the TOU finish line, then followed the course out to hollow road (mile 16.5-ish). then i turned around and followed the course back to the finish line. most of the orange moose on the road have faded or completely disappeared, but it was fun looking for them. 

i am disappointed in myself for one thing about this run --- i did not do my 5-mile MP tempo. i really needed to get a feel for pace and test my fitness, but i couldn't get it going. i did run a good 4 mile stretch with some faster miles ranging from 6:38 - 7:10, but i didn't push it as hard as i could have. i mostly just wanted to get through the distance today. i will worry about sharpening my speed with my final BW and 5K race.

i wore my nike frees. no problems. still love them. they are now my official eugene race shoes.

Hey allie dont beat yourself up thats an awesome pace for a 20 miler well done big pat on the back and I dont expect you to try doing sit/push/pull ups after that many miles :-)

sam - thanks. i will be doing the challenge still, just not until later this evening. i have to re-fuel first!

kp - hmmm. good question. original goal was 2:45, but that is just a hilarious joke now. i would love to go sub-3, but i wouldn't be surprised if i end up at 3:05 or so, just based on how i have been running lately (MP doesn't come easy, and that is not a good sign...) i haven't run this one before but the course is supposed to be flat and very scenic. it finishes on hayward field track, which is what sold me on signing up. we'll see how it goes. i am just excited to get out and race again.

Allie, you always seem to pull the deepest part of you out when it is necessary. I have no doubt you will do a GREAT job at Eugene. Although, due to your body not cooperating (hip issues) you may not hit the 2:45, I think you will surprise yourself (but not us!). Nice work on the run today, it simply proves how strong you are despite the small set backs and ALL the crazy stress in your life! Take care and enjoy the downhill training till the race.

I'm sure you will find just the right pace! You seem to get in shape extremely fast so I would not be one bit surprised by a solid sub-3!

You ran how you felt and that is better than pushing it when you don't feel it. Your body is in full thankful sway!! A canyon run sounds so wonderful. Great 20 miler girlfriend!!

solid run. you'll be fine in eugene; easily sub-3, maybe sub-2:50, depending on how easy today felt.

(and i'm jealous of getting to run at hayward field)

Great run. Don't stress the MP effort. I never ever did MP tempo on my long runs, so I don't think it is mandatory. Also I wouldn't rule out sub 2:50 quite yet. A good taper and lots of rest and you may surprise yourself. Plus, its EUGENE! Something in in the air enables you to run FAST in Eugene. :)
