are you moving moving moving or just temporarily finding a place with plumbing?

From allie on Tue, Mar 13, 2018 at 08:56:26 from 96.80.60.197

lol, we gave up on finding plumbing, it's just life now. there's a trench in the yard with walls the height of shawn bradley, and there's a guy in coveralls rolling around in the mud and using pvc pipes to make horn noises and tell us jokes through the window from 100 ft away.

we're moving to seattle on thursday. montana has been on my bucket list for a long time (glacier!), so it's going to be easier now to make that happen. i'll wave to you.

From allie on Tue, Mar 13, 2018 at 08:58:15 from 96.80.60.197

or is it wave *at* you? i don't know.

From Russ on Tue, Mar 13, 2018 at 11:21:06 from 74.114.3.253

well that's exciting. congrats to james for finally finishing school. that's a huge deal, so nice to be done. enjoy seattle, as i know you both will, and yes, please wave to/at me as you fly by billings mt.

Just to be clear, I finished school 4 years ago.

From Russ on Tue, Mar 13, 2018 at 13:04:41 from 74.114.3.253

Sorry fiddy, I knew you'd finished school in Utah, and assumed you were doing graduate work in Atlanta. No?

From allie on Tue, Mar 13, 2018 at 13:29:52 from 172.4.198.186

grad work in utah, postdoc in ATL...and no need to be sorry, it's fine to not keep track of these details. :)

i am retired.

So what will you miss the most about the South, and what will you miss the least?

From allie on Tue, Mar 13, 2018 at 20:57:40 from 172.4.198.186

jon - great question. i will miss the long,(mostly) mild springs with colorful flowers and greenery for a solid two+ months. i will also miss commiserating with you about weather drama such as unnecessary school cancellations and hurricanes.

i won't miss the humidity, the traffic, or the potholes/sinkholes on seemingly every road.

as for seattle, i'm excited to be closer to family and mountains. i'm a bit concerned about the gloomy weather, as i like good doses of sunshine. hopefully it will peek through enough.

i'm sad we never made it to SC. we did a terrible job of exploring the SE!

Best wishes on your move to Seattle. I will miss you guys at the ATC All-Comers meets - In fact I probably would not have gone to them (or even known about them) were it not for your comments on the blog! Hope the raininess of Seattle is less profound in real life than what I see on television and the movies - or that it is not something that gets in the way of your running or daily life.

From Jon on Wed, Mar 14, 2018 at 09:00:13 from 96.33.86.208

Good luck with your move!

Moving day! Safe travels. Good thing it's a short trip. I've heard that Seattle plumbing is much better than Atlanta.

From allie on Thu, Mar 15, 2018 at 07:22:21 from 96.80.60.197

thanks, y'all. that's the last time i get to say that.

bret -- thanks. i hope you get out to an all-comers meet or two this year. nothing like a good midweek 3000m.

rob - lol, doubling down! 15 years of college, lord help me
