8 miles super early. -10F out. so i ran inside. averaged 7:45/mile.

PM: commute day 2 - survived. fixed my tail light in the process. it's all UHAUL's fault.

look how many ways KSL found to describe "polluted air"

i am looking forward to the various conditions over the next 5 days.

I'm sensing a pattern here. I can't quite put my foot on it. I wish I could read between the lines and pick up on any clues. I don't know. Something seems very familiar about your running lately.

burt[8miles] - you[8miles] need[8miles] to[8miles] start[8miles] looking[8miles] harder[8miles] for[8miles] patterns[8miles]. i[8miles] don't[8miles] sense[8miles] any[8miles] real[8miles] effort[8miles] from[8miles] you[8miles] in[8miles] recognizing[8miles] my[8miles] current[8miles] training[8miles] method[8miles]. i[8miles] can[8miles] only[8miles] give[8miles] you[8miles] so[8miles] many[8miles] hints[8miles]. but[8miles] i[8miles] can't[8miles] just[8miles] give[8miles] you[8miles] the[8miles] answer[8miles]. it[8miles] would[8miles] be[8miles] a[8miles] crutch[8miles] in[8miles] developing[8miles] your[8miles] critical[8miles] thinking[8miles] skills[8miles].

From Nevels on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 14:22:18 from

allie: it's that you're averaging the same pace every day, right?

burt: don't listen to her; critical thinking skills are over-rated

so given the stencil doodle, and spiragraph pictures, i gather that you're drawing stuff while running now . . . impressive.

From Burt on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 15:53:16 from

Okay, I'm totally lost now. I almost had it. It should be as easy as 4+4. Think Burt!

From Nevels on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 15:56:41 from

i'm not so good with numbers, burt...

From Burt on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 15:58:04 from

Me neither. We may made a bad decision when it comes to careers.

From Nevels on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 16:05:44 from

nah... water flows down hill, and concrete fails in tension; that's all we need to know, right...?

From Burt on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 16:28:14 from

I repeat that to myself every day so I don't forget.

From Nevels on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 16:33:51 from

i keep it written on a post-it note in my office so that when i do forget it at night, it's right there waiting for me in the morning. all i have to do is keep it straight, so i don't go around saying that concrete flows downhill and water fails in tension...i think...

From JulieC on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 17:48:19 from

Oh my, critically thinking you all need help : DD 8x8=64. I always thought there should be 8 days in a week than 8 would easily put me over 60 for the week. But then I would have to minus Sunday and back under I go. Blah. Have fun artistes!!!

From Nevels on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 17:51:48 from

so you're saying that you listen to the Beatles song "8 Days a Week" while you run. Is that the pattern? Burt will love that...

From allie on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 17:56:49 from

i just found a pic of nevels. looks like he got caught in some downhill flowing water.

From allie on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 17:58:51 from

and here's a cute one of burt. this is why he can't think critically. he has other stuff on his mind.

From allie on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 18:00:42 from

and this is what you could have been if you would have chosen a different career path:

From Nevels on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 18:12:43 from

That was from one of the stream crossings in the Sweetwater 50k. Oddly enough, it was also my senior portrait...

From Burt on Fri, Jan 08, 2010 at 18:24:37 from

That's my favorite tu tu.

From ChrisM on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 15:22:05 from

I am loving the 8 feel!

I had a similar fascination with 7 and then 9 miles per day, alas I got bored of them so I'm giving 10 a try

From allie on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 15:40:51 from

chris - yes, 8 is getting boring. i am just trying to build a consistent base before getting back into serious training. i haven't been running much since early november, so i am trying to gradually bring back the mileage without developing some random injury (i seem to be really good at that).

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 15:53:57 from

He he I like 8, but my fav is 9 like Chris, and recently I have been alternating with 9 and 10 just for something different :-)

Allie I get random injuries all the time LOL

From Smooth on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 16:03:38 from

Ask any Chinese what 8 means and they'll tell ya...LUCKY, FAST, PROSPEROUS!!!

Remember the Summer Olympics in Beijing? It opened on 8/8/2008 at 8!
