8.5 miles. sunnyside down + small extension to mail a letter. i wore a bandana over my nose and mouth (bandit style) to try and keep my face warm (i am tired of snotsicles). it worked, although it was much too stuffy. i also spotted three deer leaping across sunnyside avenue. oh, what a morning.

plank & such: later, as in i never got around to it. sometimes there are more important things to do in life than the plank. sometimes.

Tomorrow instead of mailing a letter, run into the Bank with your bandana on, go up to the teller and tell them you would like to make a withdrawal and then run out the door as fast as you can for a little speed work.

it's the "& such" of life that keeps things interesting

From RAD on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 12:04:49 from

I like Rob's suggestion! Although it may be difficult to find an open bank the time of day you run!

From Teena Marie on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 12:32:20 from

Laughing at Rob's suggestion. :)

Nice run, Allie! :)

From Lysa on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 12:48:03 from

Good idea with the bandana, my face was so cold when I got home, it was hard to talk or move my mouth.

Nice Run like always Allie!

ohh...a ski mask with the mouth, eyes & nose cut out of it...that would be great too.

Nice run. Sunnyside down- I like the name of that run. How is sunnyside up? I'm thinking it's got to be a killer.

From Carina on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 13:51:02 from

LOL!!! I'm literally laughing too. I still haven't found a good way to keep my face warm while running in sub-freezing temperatures, my favorite is when everything goes numb. I am usually slobbering on myself and don't even know it, like at the dentist.

A long time ago, my friend had the hots for a girl that worked at the bank. He went in there, handed her a note asking her if she wanted to go out on a date. But before she read it, she set off the alarm because she thought he was robbing the bank. Ahhh, good times.

(my kind of luck...)

From Lily on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 16:07:14 from

Oh all theses comments are so funny.

Me and you ans sunnyside, when it's a little warmer, I'm telling you...

Dam it feels good to be a gangsta!

From Bec on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 18:39:24 from

I like your face mask idea. You could get away with robbing a bank. No one could keep up with you.

From Nancy on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 18:54:19 from

I don't blame you for wearing something on your face. Saturday when we ran we all wore something over out faces. Maybe we should have all gone into the post office together with our faces covered.

From auntieem on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 19:13:55 from

I thought only I called them "snotsicles"! I am glad to have company. Haven't found a face covering that solves the problem, actually. I get too hot/stuffy with my face covered.

From Elle on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 20:31:49 from

Glad I'm not the only one whose nose is also running! Keep up the great work!

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Jan 04, 2011 at 22:07:10 from

Was there snot smears inside the bandanna? Wait, my grammar isn't right... Were there snot smears?

From gdoc on Wed, Jan 05, 2011 at 00:55:47 from

Embrace the snot

From allie on Wed, Jan 05, 2011 at 03:07:15 from

thanks all -- i will be attempting the bank robbery/speed workout in the morning and i will need someone to record my getaway split. bring a reliable stopwatch, orange gatorade and bail money.

So UnderArmor (and I know Nike does too) makes a ninja style head cover. The part that goes over your mouth and nose is made to be easily pulled down for a minute if your face gets stuffy or if it gets hard to breathe (like when running up a steep hill or something), or you can just cover your chin or whatever works for you. Totally keeps the head, nose and ears nice and toasty. It actually funnels your warm exhaled air back to your ears if the face part is pulled up. One of the best running gear investments I have ever made. The one I bought was about $25, but it is so worth it in this N. Utah climate. Also, when combined with full-body black spandex, black gloves, black shorts, and black shirts the awesomeness factor approaches infinity.

From runningafterbabies on Wed, Jan 05, 2011 at 22:56:02 from

Make a neck warmer that you can pull up around your face. Just sew (or hot glue) a piece of fleece together after measuring it around your neck/mouth. I can't remember who on the blog told me about that trick, but it works and it's cheap.
